AGM - New Date, Calendar (Oro Thunder Minor Hockey)

While the Association encourages member participation at any time during the year, the AGM is the official forum where items can be publicly discussed by the membership and the Executive Committee. Many important issues are discussed at the AGM including the overall program direction for the Association, including financials, operations, and initiatives. Official Association business, such as the election of Executive Members, and amendments to the By-laws also take place. 

Volunteers make Oro Hockey happen 
The association has some board vacancies and needs greater participation from parents. There are opportunities for both light and heavy volunteering. Volunteering your administrative skills is a great way to get involved, meet some neighbours and help your local community!


Proposed Constitution Change:

Section 7.3 of the constitution currently reads:

7.3 Notice

a) Annual General Meeting;
Notice of the Annual General Meeting to be held within the last fifteen (15) days of February in each year, shall set out the agenda, including particulars of any other business to come before the Meeting. The time and the place of the meeting, and such notice shall be posted in all Association Arenas at least twenty (20) days prior to the date of the Meeting.

b) Additional General Meetings of the Membership;
Notice of any Additional General Meetings of the Membership shall be posted in all Association Arenas within at least fifteen (15) days prior to the date of the Meeting.

c) Error or Omission in Notice;
No inadvertent error or omission in giving notice of any Annual General Meeting or Additional General Meeting of Membership or any adjourned Meeting, whether Annual or General, shall invalidate such a Meeting or make void any proceedings taken at such Meeting and any Member may at any time waive notice of any such Meeting and may ratify, approve and confirm any or all actions or proceedings taken at any such Meeting.

Section 7.1, noting the time in which the Annual General Meeting will be held was voted in favour of being changed to between January 1st and April 30th. For consistency, 7.3 a) should also be changed to reflect the January thru April dates.

With the increased use of internet websites for notification, there's much less use of physical bulletin boards for notices. It's believed that the entire Oro Minor Hockey membership reads the information on orominorhockey.ca. Rather than posting notices in arenas, it's proposed that notices are posted on orominorhockey.ca.

The proposed amendments section 7.3 read as:

The time and the place of the meeting, and such notice shall be posted on the Association website at least twenty (20) days prior to the date of the Meeting.

Notice of any Additional General Meetings of the Membership shall be posted on the Association website at least fifteen (15) days prior to the date of the Meeting.

There are no changes proposed for section 7.3 c).
