Oro Tyke 2 Enjoys Undefeated Weekend
A tie and a win over the weekend carries on the undefeated streak!
Picking up where they left off, the team started the weekend with a hard fought tie against Coldwater. The boys needed a few minutes to get back into the flow of a game with Ayden putting the home team in front midway through the first period. The puck seemed to follow Ayden who had many chances before burying one with a low shot that beat the Coldwater goalie. Despite carrying most of the play it was Coldwater scoring the second goal of the game on a nifty deke. Connor countered with a pretty backhand deke of his own to put the home team back in front. The teams then settled into a defensive battle for much of the second period before a short side shot found the top corner eluding Graydon in the Oro net. Neither team was able to score in the third and the game ended in a 2-2 tie.
With their first game of the new year behind them the team came back on Sunday with a fantastic effort. Facing off against Penetang. The confidence was evident as the coaches continue to see improvement in each and every player. Proof of this came in the first goal of the season for Colton. After multiple opportunities in previous games, Colton got on the scoresheet early with a great individual effort, scoring on a breakaway early in the game. Connor continues to lead the offense with another pair of goals. The smooth skating Ayden, never far from the net or goals rounded out the scoring for the home team. Once the home team established a lead the defence took over and limited the visitors to 2 goals for a 5-2 win.
Coaches applauded the team effort and attention to defence. Since the teams first win they have not allowed more than 3 goals against, quite a feat, way to go!
