Oro Tyke 2 Earn Weekend Split with Wasaga Stars
A tough loss on Saturday was followed up with a big win on Sunday

On Saturday January 26th the boys were in tough against a Wasaga Stars that came ready to play.  The game started strong for Oro who jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead thanks to goals by Connor and Ayden in the first period.  It looked like Oro had control of the game until Wasaga bounced back with 2 quick goals of their own.
Wasaga was relentless after tying the game and they continued to press with 3 more goals to take a commanding lead.  However, despite being short handed on the day it was great to see the boys never give up and continue to give it their all.  Connor added 3 more goals but they weren't able to get any closer eventually losing 9-5.  It was a humbling game after a great stretch of success starting before Christmas.  The coaches used the opportunity to stress the importance of always giving your all and continuing to play as a team regardless of the score.  It would prove to be a well received message.
Sunday was a completly different story for the Oro when they welcomed Wasaga to their arena.  From the drop of the puck it was a different Oro Thunder team.  Noah started the scoring with a great individual effort midway through the first period.  Taking the lead into the second period, Connor added to the lead converting a pass from Colton.  Connor closed out the scoring in the second period with his second of the game and the confidence was back.  Early in third period Brett, who played his best game of the season, held the puck in at the blue line and fired a shot that eluded the Wasaga goalie.  Oro continue taking the play to the Stars with lots of opportunities to score.  Colton finished the scoring with a pretty breakaway goal.  With a final score of 5-0 it also marked the first shutout of the year for Graydon who made some great saves early in the game.
It was great to see such a great effort following a such a tough loss.  Great Job!
