Atom AE Thunder Victorious at Elmvale AE Tournament
The Oro Thunder Atom AE team were declared Champions at the Elmvale AE tournament over the past weekend.

The Oro Thunder were unstoppable, on their way to victory defeating their opposition over the course of 6 games. The team went undefeated and recorded a staggering 22 goals for and only allowing 3 goals against.

In the first game and tournament opener, Oro faced South Muskoka and Oro took control early on. The Thunder's defense played exceptionally well and cleared their zone by using precision passing, feeding the forwards to go on relentless attacks. Oro defeated Muskoka 3-0, recording their 1st of three shutouts.

The second game Oro played Six Nations which proved to be a hard battle with no goals being scored until the second period. Six Nations struck first and Oro answered back late in the second period. In the 3rd period Oro adapted their game and with incredible defence leading the way started the thunder rolling. The team bumped and grinded their way into scoring 3 more goals in the 3rd to capture the win defeating the Six Nations 4-1.

The Thunder played Lincoln in the 3rd game and the entire team was on fire. Smooth breakouts followed by precision passing proved to be to much to handle. Oro scored a goal in every period and recorded their 2nd shutout of the tournament defeating Lincoln 4-0.

Game 4 proved to be a hard battle against the tournament host Elmvale. Oro, again with excellent goal tending and defence started the team rolling offensively. The forwards with relentless back checking, put together numerous impressive attacks and the Thunder went on to defeat Elmvale 4-0, recording their 3rd shutout.

In the fifth game the Thunder faced off against Midland and quickly found themselves behind 1-0 in the 1st period. Oro kept positive and with a few small alterations to their game found themselves tied up in the 2nd period. In the 3rd period the team were relentless with their back checking and again dug hard in the corners to keep the game tied. Finally, Oro turned it on and pounded 3 more goals into Midlands net before the end of the game, defeating them 4-1.

In the Championship game the Thunder faced off against Tavistock. This game turned out to be what every final game should be, a hard, bump and grind, back and forth battle. Both teams battled ferociously with numerous attacks at both ends of the rink. Oro fell behind quickly in the first period and the 2nd period produced no scoring from either team. In the 3rd period, every player on the Thunder team dug deep and raised their games to a new level. Again, a full team effort of passing, back checking and goal tending resulted in the game being tied up halfway through the 3rd. Less than a minute later the Thunder struck again, taking the lead 2-1.  In the dying seconds of the game Oro pounded in an empty netter and captured the Championship 3-1 over Tavistock.

Ryan Rodgers, the goalie for the Oro Thunder was named Tournament MVP, for recording only 3 goals against and 3 shutouts.

All the players of the Atom AE Thunder played with heart and determination and contributed equally to their success over the weekend. They should be very proud of them selves and their accomplishments.
