New Jerseys + New Arena = Great Results
The boys had the privilege of being the first Oro team to play at our newly renovated arena and they were determined to represent Oro in style. Donning the new jerseys for the first time the boys looked great and played even better. Hard work from the "grind line of Brett G, Brodie and Keith G result in a goal just over a minute in to the game with Keith G stuffing home a loose puck. Will G with a sweet wrist shot added to the lead, the helper going to Owen L who was playing up front, filling in for Davis K who was out with the flu.
In the second period Will G completed the natural hat trick to extend the lead to 4 before the second period ended. The 3rd period was time to tighten up defensively and lead by the strong play of the captain Calaen G; Alfie B, Jordan H and Sam F helped keep Coldwater on the perimeter. They had very few scoring chances but when they did Graydon B was equal to the task even making an acrobatic save kicking up his leg while on his stomach to keep the shut out intact.
Troy V with a beautiful individual effort made a move on the Coldwater goalie that left his head spinning. However, the crowning moment came when Troy V made a slick pass to Ben B in the slot. Ben turned and fired the puck into the low corner past the keeper for his first goal of the season.
It was a great way to head into the Christmas break. There was a lot of passing and team play from each and every boy on the team. The coaching staff would like to take this opportunity to wish every one a Merry Christmas and all the best for a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year!
