Playoffs start with a Thunderous Boom!
Great start to the playoffs with back to back wins!

The playoffs finally got underway and they couldn't have started any better.  With a home and home series with the Collingwood Blackhawks, a team we hadn't played in the regular season, provided and good test to start the round robin.  Concerned the team may be a little rusty having not played since January 24th, the boys came out flying.  Troy V was more than ready as he not only opened the scoring, he scored the first 4 goals including a natural hat trick on one shift in the second period!  One goal stood out in particular; Owen L spotted a wide open Davis K in the high slot.  Davis fed it to Troy who fired a low shot to the far corner.  With a heavy emphasis on team play and passing, it was great to see the 3 way passing play result in a goal.
Will G also came ready to play.  He has been flying the past few games and added 2 of his own goals.
Understanding defence wins playoff game, the play of Calaen G, Alfie B, Sam F, Owen L and Jordan H proved that notion with fantastic play on the blueline.  However, not to be outdone, goalie Graydon B committed larceny with several 10 bell saves including a highlight reel glove hand save that drew the applause of the entire team.

We knew Collingwood would be much tougher in the second game and we would need to be even better on Sunday night.  The game was back and forth for most of the first period as The Blackhawks wanted to make a statement.  Once again the defence and goaltender stood tall until Will G was able to break the deadlock when he wired a wrist shot into the low corner.  A more balanced attack saw Troy V, Keith G and Owen L add goals and stake the team to a 4-0 the held up until the final buzzer.  The "grind line" of Keon S, Blake B and Keith G were excellent creating plenty of scoring chances, the rink always seemed to be tilted in Oro's favour when they were on the ice.  Jordan H with perhaps his best game of the year had an extra jump in his step to lead another great defensive effort.  The line of Troy V, Ben B and Davis K were firing on cylinders and had their best game since being put together.
Great job boys and I look forward to the same effort in our next game!
