Thunder Go Undefeated in Huntsville Tournament!
The team got back at it with a Tournament in Huntsville and ended with 3 wins and a tie.

With a lengthy break following the round robin portion of the playoffs, the team got back together in Huntsville for the Knights of Columbus Atom tournament.
With only a couple of practices over the last 10 days, the boys didn't miss a beat opening the tournament with tie against a stubborn team from Pembroke.  With play deserving a better fate, the team was able to get their feet moving and played a strong game.  Troy V, who had a fantastic game, opened the scoring early in the first.   Unfortunately we were unable to beat the Pembroke goalie, goal post or cross bar again, settling for a 1-1 tie.
Saturday was an early start against Lefroy and the team came out flying.  Lead by Blake B who opened the scoring with great work on the penalty kill, the team built a commanding lead and didn't look back.  Although they got into some penalty trouble the strong penalty kill by Blake B, Keith G, Will G and Brodie P kept Lefroy in check and the game ended 4-1.
The third game had the team up against Listowel and like the Pembroke game,  the team opened the scoring.  However, with 3 games under their belt the team was in high gear and took it to the opposition until the final buzzer.  Will G and Troy V continued their offensive output but it was the play of the whole team that lead to success.  Ben B who played his best hockey of the year and added a great goal, Keon S who is the definition of "lead by example" and his linemates Blake B, who was awesome all tournament and Keith G, with his grit and determination, Helped seal the victory.  Owen L who filled in up front from his usual position on defence scored a beauty going bar down from sharp angle and set up Troy V with a great goal mouth feed.
With a 2-0-1 record the team moved onto to the Silver Championship game against Arnprior and the boys wouldn't be denied.  Strong defensive play has been the backbone of the team all year; Captain Caelan G led a great group of Jordan H, Alfie B and Sam F with strong, aggressive play, stepping up and forcing the opposition into turnovers that our forwards were able to capitalize on.  Keith G opened the scoring and with steady pressure the team built a 4-0 lead for the win.  Although he wasn't overly busy between the pipes, Graydon B had a stellar tournament allowing 3 goals in 4 games.  In the championship game he broke any hopes Arnprior had with a highlight reel glove save.
The tournament served as a great tune up for the Championship Series starting Monday Night!
