Oro Loses Big Game and a Leader
Oro1 was in Collingwood again on Sunday, this time to take on the Best in The West

Oro went into this match fully buoyed by their excellent performance vs C2,but learned
late Saturday night that our stalwart Dman,Maguire, had broken his wrist
Very sad news for Magoo, who has been dynamic on D and will miss the rest of the playoffs.
We all feel for you buddy... and thanks so much for making the game under duress.
There's no doubt we miss you on the ice.

That combined with news that our Captain Harry was sick left the team a little shaken before the opening faceoff
We encouraged them to put all that out of their minds and just go play...we are a deeply talented team that is a handful when firing on all cylinders.
But on this day Collingwood 1 played like a Jag V12
We found out quickly that they are a big, fast and talented squad
C1 took the action to us and we were on our heels to start.
By mid first they had taken a 2-0 lead with heavy shots and net drive plays, but Doogie brought us within one on a great wrister on a nice pass from Owen
C1 likes to put out power lines immediately following an upsurge and they quickly got the goal back with 20 seconds to go in the first
But Chaser was undaunted and returned the favour with just .09 seconds left to play on a strong individual effort.
3-2 after 1
Second period was one of highs and lows
Doogie tied the game in just 14 seconds with another great wrister from Ben..and the bench felt momentum
But shortly thereafter Flash took a hard shot in the hip seam with no protection and was injured
Down to three D and Jacob was dropped back to an unfamiliar position and did so admirably
This killed what monentum we had built and C1 began to take charge of the game.
Justin saw a LOT of hard rubber and could not faulted one bit on giving up the next five ...the pendulum had swung too greatly
Flash dug deep and implored Rob to let him play again despite the pain...what a tough, tough guy you are Eric!!
Eric tried to make a difference with his patented rushes but Collinwood was playing a prevent triangle that proved too difficult to penetrate
Jacob moved back up and got a late second period marker, but at 8-4 we had our work cut out for us.
Lots of penalty trouble in the third stalled any comeback and C1 did not take their foot off the gas
Special mention must go to Hayden in this game
He has improved steadily all season and played ANOTHER standout game
As the competition has increased, so has Hayden's focus and compete and I can't say enough good things about how he led this team from start to finish
Our Player of the Game in this losing cause
In the end it wasn't effort that let us down..I could see the boys trying so hard
But losing focus and team play to overcome a surprisingly tough foe was our undoing.
"More passing" said Eric post game and he's right...many tried to put the game on their backs and do too much individually. We learned long ago this is often folly...especially against a team with high skill and solid positional play.
We will not go quietly into the night however, and look forward to the rematch next Sunday
This I can guarantee...Oro 1 will be ready and the score will not resemble this one.
I have faith that our boys will bring the Thunder once again..there's too much character in our room for anything less.
Final;
Collingwood1 10 - Oro 4
