Pre-Season Ice Schedule
Submitted By Mark Raven on Thursday, August 31, 2017
Welcome Back!  The Pre-Season Ice Schedule for the 2017/18 season has been posted up to Thanksgiving.

Here is some key information regarding the first month of the season:

While we do our best to maintain the schedule with as much lead time as possible, it is recommended that all families and coaches check the website regularly as ice times can change.

There will be 2 body checking clinics held for Bantam (and Midget if interested) age players. The first is on Saturday September 10th, the second will be Saturday September 23rd.  It is strongly encouraged that all Bantam players trying out for our Rep and AE team attend the clinic.  It is an invaluable opportunity to learn how to give and take checks.

Tryouts for all Rep teams start on Sunday September 10th, with AE to follow.  In order to be considered for AE teams players must attend Rep tryouts.  Local League evaluations will follow tryouts, starting on September 17th.  In situations where we have more than 1 Local League team, the respective divisions will host a couple of evaluations and then divide teams with the intention of all teams being competitive.

This year we have scheduled a pre-skate for all players in IP through Midget on September 10th.  Please refer to the website.  The ice time is designed for all skill levels and provide an opportunity to try out new equipment and get the rust off before the season officially starts.  The pre-stake is not part of the try out process.  Oro Board members and coaches will be on the ice to lead drills.

This year we are proud to announce a Skating and Skill Enhancement Program for IP and Tyke Players.  The organization has secured external resources to lead the program starting Saturday, September 16th.  Learning Fundamentals are the key to the successful development of hockey skills.  Building basic skills leads to more fun on the ice!

Again this season, we will host goalie clinics throughout the season (at not additional cost!!!).  The first goalie clinic will be Tuesday September 12th, the second will be Saturday September 16th.

As always it is strongly suggested that you all sign up for the text or email alerts once you have been assigned to a team.  Schedule changes can occur from time to time so it's best to be notified as early as possible.

Don't forget about the Golf Tournament at Shanty Bay Golf Club on September 9th!

Also a note for those new to Oro Minor Hockey;  The scheduler only deals directly with the team contact(s) for anything relating to the team's schedule. Any comments, questions, or concerns should be communicated to your team contact.

Best of luck to all players, parents and coaches!
