OFF TO AN EARLY “CHAMPIONSHIP” START, News (Oro Thunder Minor Hockey)

Oro Minor Hockey played host to twelve teams this weekend for the annual Kevin McKay Memorial Early Start Tournament.

Teams represented at both the Atom Rep and Peewee Rep level came together for a weekend of exciting hockey.
Oro Atom Rep kicked off the tournament with a 4-1 win over the Penetang Flames.
In game two, the Oro Thunder were able to shut out the Caledonia Thunder 4-0.
Game three saw a close battle ending with a 4-3 loss to Parry Sound.
However, given their strong performance in the round robin, the Oro Atom Rep team went into the semi finals holding down first place and came out with a convincing 7-0 win over the Newcastle Stars.
This earned our Atoms a spot in the Championship game and a rematch against Penetang for the title.
The championship was very evenly matched and a strongly fought battle which ended with our Oro Thunder Atoms winning 1-0 in over time.
