U13 LL1 (Oro Thunder Minor Hockey)

Hello Thunder Families, The Oro Minor Hockey Annual General Meeting will take place on Sunday April 27th at 7:00 pm in the Banquet Room at the Oro Arena. Registration on the website is required to attend the meeting. We would like to invite all members of our Association to attend and recap the 2024/25 season and to ask questions or share concerns and new ideas.

Orillia MHA held their re-vote and unfortunately voted NO to the re-organization with Oro Minor Hockey. The vote was 62% in favor and not the 2/3 majority that was required, the vote was 5 votes short of passing. We would like to thank the members of our reorg committee that worked so hard to try to make this happen. This is disappointing news for our players and our Board will regroup and we will continue to find a way to grow minor hockey development for our players.

The annual lottery draw has been completed!!  Congratulations to all the winners!! Please reach out to [email protected] to provide your mailing address for the cheque to be mailed. The cheque will be issued to the name on the ticket stub, please email the treasurer if you have any concerns with this.

Team 1 and Team 2 travelled down to Oakville for a two day jamboree Family Day Weekend. This was a large event for the kids and parents. Both teams got to spend time together at the rink and in their hotels. They made great memories with their teammates. A jamboree of this caliber increased the kids development and love for hockey. Everyone had a great time. Both teams played extremely well and the parents were cheering very loud!   

We’ve just received news that Orillia Minor Hockey has filled most of its vacant board positions, achieving quorum. This is fantastic news, as it paves the way for Orillia Minor Hockey to proceed towards hosting a re-vote on the Rep Re-Organization on Sunday, February 23. We understand how frustrating the lack of information has been, but we prioritised providing factual details to our membership. Once the result of the Orillia re-vote is in and OMHA has reviewed the information we will provide an update to our membership when it is available.

A reminder that our annual lottery date will be February 18, 2025 at 7:00 pm. 1 Prize of $1,000 1 Prize of  $750 5 Prizes of $500 5 Prizes of $250 The books of lottery tickets ($5 x 20 tickets) have been handed out. Please reach out to the coach for your oldest player if you have not received your tickets. Tickets can be sold to anyone that is 18+ years old. Ticket stubs (with full contact info) must be entered in to the ticket box (in front of the concession stand) by February 18th at 6:50 pm.

U7 Team 1 completed another successful jamboree in Parry Sound this weekend; the kids worked hard, enjoyed the pizza/friendship and look forward to representing the organization again at the Oakville jamboree later this month. Go Thunder Go!
