Colt45 and O Put on a Show
The Thunder were in Angus for our first "home" game of the season finishing with a resounding victory over the Wasaga Stars

The Thunder were warned pregame to never take any team for granted/start strong and the message was taken to heart as Chase opened the scoring from Owen just 13 seconds into the match
They reversed the favour just 21 seconds later as O drilled home his first of three on the day..and we were off to the races.
This was an exceptionally well played game by everyone..the puck sharing and creativity was exciting to witness
We saw Doogie on a clear cut breakaway and said out loud... "watch,he'll pass".
Sure enough,Eric pulled the goalie wide and dropped the puck between his legs for a beautiful play that just missed.
Selfless as always, but explained afterwards to not think it selfish to bury your chances...and in a close game that's what to do. Think it goes against the grain of this naturally gifted playmaker.
I missed quite a few goals going over different strategies with the boys..including Big Ben's unassisted marker.
Ben continues to excel at forward, getting stronger all the time, and had a three point game.
Wasaga's coaches,to their credit, made some pre game adjustments that we hadn't seen before
We countered mid stream to switch our method of puck movement and take advantage of newly created open ice.
We saw lots of hard and successful forechecks with many curl out/cross crease seam passes that just missed.
That's sort of heads up play will reap rewards in the future and we encourage forwards to go to the net ,stick on ice as the passes and rebounds will come.

Posts!!..there were plenty
I believe Harry had two, Ty three, and several others but Captain made good on a last second rush where coaches were yelling "SHOOT" as the clock ticked down.
Harry took it from his own zone with @7 secs on the clock, weaved and raced to Wasaga's blueline where Bigfoot  absolutely DESTROYED the puck top corner.
A remarkable rush/shot that just beat the buzzer to many open jaws at it's powerful grace.

All the D were rock solid this match..Flash had some big rushes and Colt 45 played his best game of the year
Coach Rob kept remarking about Colt's dogged determination this game..something his mates from last year know all about
Colt must be taking tips from Harry and Hayden as The Silver Bullet unleashed just that from the point on a top shelf rocket the goalie never saw because of a great screen provided by Ty sliding in off wing.
Those 5000 shots sure did make a difference this summer young man...co-player of the game!
We killed four Pk's today (and a couple sketchy calls) with aplomb
While the coaches asked to set up the practiced box,our skilled group actually took the play to Wasaga more often than not scoring two shorties
Aidan and Jacob were forces on the penalty kill with Taz playing some center while picking up a nice shorthander assisted from Hayden. Hayden continues to look up ice everytime the puck hits his stick to make smart plays.
Aidan played his typical two way game and looked fantastic once again all over the ice.
Puck sharing creatively was on full display from the Roadrunner all game who also found twine early second.
Owen, also named co player of the game, used all the tricks in his book to wheel and dish game long
Owen is a highly skilled pivot that can snipe with the best but it's his passing the puck at appropriate times that has really helped round his game. Excellent job for co-POG honours O!
Fast Eddie was flying the wing hard all game and continues to make tape to tape breakout passes on the fly to centers. This is not unnoticed Edward and keep up the great work!!!
The Twin Towers of Power were reunited late game when Magoo and Ty switched positions
This was a favourite pairing of mine two seasons ago as together Hayden and Maguire provided an almost impenetrable defensive wall
Magoo works seamlessly with his old partner, but had a beauty end to end rush early game after taking Coach Rob's advice to make his move early/drive wide only to be robbed on a hard high slot wrister.
A nice problem to have as Ty too looked great on wing forechecking hard, hitting a troika of posts and still picked up three apples in the match
Justin didn't get a ton of work, but was characteristically smooth and poised when called upon  to post his third shutout of the season
And finally,somehow under the radar....Chaser.
Must be taking this young man's play for granted as somehow I missed that he had five goals and six points on the day.
I knew he was a remarkably skilled offensive player from the get go,and encouraged him to be sure and play hard two ways as I expect centers to be as strong defensively as they are offensively
He has been exceptional in both facets.
Chase has brought a determined, hard on the puck defensive game with breathless effort that will serve this team very well when the games get tougher and playoffs loom
As mentioned pregame, continued success will be forged with better focus in practice and hard work off ice
But for now,we can enjoy the team's successes to date...I have yet to see a team that shares the puck like ours
Final;
Oro- 13  Wasaga- 0
