Justinator Stares Down Wildcats for 4th Consecutive 0
Oro played home to the fast skating Coldwater Wildcats Saturday morning and immediately got back to their puck moving ways with an exceptional 7-0 triumph.
The team was reminded pre game what makes this team most effective and sure enough we saw a far more fluid game with heads up hockey and swift puck movement
The Wildcats have several speedy weapons up front that can give defenses trouble,but our forwards backchecked ferociously all game to help the D quell attackers.
Sadly the refs were stingy with assists in this game(only handing out three) and maybe they were bedazzled by the passing ,unable to keep track...because we saw some beauties
Without strong goaltending from the Coldwater tender,this game would have easily hit double digits.
Our four centers had huge games...playing strong two way hockey and distributing the pucks to breaking wingers.
Chaser,Doogie and Aidan all had pairs with Owen picking up a single marker on a blistering wrister and an assist
Doogie continued to lead the team in playmaking and made a between the legs drop to Aidan on a 2-0.
Aidan had to make a drastic, highspeed cut to pick the puck up crease high then went quick flip to score top shelf.
Remarkable skills on display.
The D played a strong 2 1/2 periods but let their collective guard down late third for some breakaway chances
Enter the Justinator
He had made several difficult stops throughout the game,but also had to stare down 3 clear cut breakaways to Coldwater speed merchants to earn the shutout.
While we obviously don't like to give up such chances, I get a rush out of watching Justin challenge shooters on breakaways.
His aggressive high crease stance and steely focus harkens back to an Old West gunfighter at high noon
He dares shooters to find room,and if they deke...well then they learn this cat has reflexes and movement to take away what was there only for an instant.
A complete and difficult outing for Justin who fully earned player of game honours with his fourth straight shutout!
Congrats Justinator and continued success young man.
I could go through and name all players as everyone had an excellent outing today, but I think I'll let a late game remark from the lead official say it best;
"Wow...I've haven't reffed Midget teams that pass the puck as well as yours this year"
High,high praise boys.
We will continue to work hard off ice and on in practice, focussing on and honing our skills to become our best as individuals.
Combining that growth with a selfless team first attitude, Oro 1 will prove to be a formidable opponent for any team we face season long.
Final;
Oro 7 - Coldwater 0
