PeeWee LL1, 2011-2012 (Oro Thunder Minor Hockey)

I would like to express a heart felt thanks to all the parents, players and siblings of the team.  Without all of you helping and volunteering your time, this team would not have been as great a success as it has been!

After a blistering play off-season that saw some extreme highs (and a few lows), the Peewee Boomers decided it was time to take a well-deserved vacation down south.  Nothing like basking in the glory of a terrific season by the pool with plenty of cocktails and complimentary meals (breakfast) at the local diner.  “All Inclusive” could not be this nice!

For those fans that have been following the epic journey of the Oro Thunder Peewee One team, I thought it would be important to introduce you to the stars of the show.  This season has been the best ever due to the characters we had on and off the ice. 

The Flesherton Hawks were able to put together another win to defeat the Oro Thunder Peewees 4-1 and take the A Division Championship last night in Flesherton Ontario.  The Oro Thunder gave the Flesherton team all they had over the past week and a half and every game had points where the score could have gone either way.  Goal tending was superb for both teams and every player was working hard on the ice for a victory.  The hockey was so fantastic in fact, that Oro fans were following the action from areas as far as 2000 km away!

I am writing this game report from an ice breaker as north in the Great Lakes as you can get and there is just no ice to amount to anything.  A strange season indeed for us on the water but what thrilling excitement you are getting to see with the battle of Oro and Flesherton!  This is exciting hockey folks and no matter what happens you are watching the best of the best go at it for the Peewee A Division Cup!  “PRIDE” is such an understatement when trying to put together words to express how well our Oro Peewee One team is doing this year and Game 3 of 5 was another close one! 

Oh the joy of hockey during the March Break! Normally we are digging out of our igloos and taking the sled dogs into work. Our Hockey offspring are focused and tough after a winter of ice and brutally cold temperatures…I guess this is global warming is distracting this time of year… Last night's game in the Oro Thunder Dome was underway at 7:30 PM and Oro was playing host to the fast skating Flesherton Peewee team. Flesherton was coming off a close loss in their home barn and was intent on seeking some revenge on the Boomers!

A pound of Flesh… errr... a ton? The Thunder will have their work cut out for them to win this series. With the March Break in full swing and the Boomers down two men to the lure of vacation and relaxation, the depth of the team was tested last night in a crazy tilt in the town of Flesherton.
