For those fans that have been following the epic journey of the Oro Thunder Peewee One team, I thought it would be important to introduce you to the stars of the show. This season has been the best ever due to the characters we had on and off the ice.
Without further ado: Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls…
The TEAM:
Logan (Gretzky): Plays forward, defense and likes Bob Marley. A true Buffalo Soldier he played with (sometimes crippling) pains the latter half of the season; a sharp shooter, goal scorer and smart playmaker.
Josh (Two Hands): Plays forward and likes the back hand; a hard checker and goes strong to the net. He is very difficult to stop under full steam.
Greg (The Hammer): Plays Defence and Forward, sometimes both at the same time. Tough against the boards and pounds away to get the puck; a good puck mover.
Trent (Silent but Deadly): Plays Forward and is the break out King. Trent works hard along the boards and passes well. Goes to the net and stealth-fully sets up.
Daniel (Tank): Plays Forward and is a bone crusher. Great shot and puck skills, enjoys the physical aspect of the game (keep yer head up!)
Justin (Crosby): Plays Forward and is a gritty player. Good hands and likes to play the puck, can take a hit and keep on going.
David (Dagger Dave): Plays Forward and gets to the net fast; Hard worker in the oppositions end and a force when at the net.
Nick(Giddy Up): Plays Defence and can shut down the best. Tough rubber band like player that takes a pounding and gets up flying!
Quinn(Road Runner): Plays Forward and feels the need for speed. A power forward that drives the net and goes for it!
Shaunce (Mad Dog): Plays Defence and will chew you up in the defensive zone. Plays a puck moving defensive style and can turn a game around fast.
Zack(Volcano): Plays Forward and is deadly on the one timer. Gets into the offensive zone quick and erupts with deadly precision.
Elora (Venus Fly Trap): Plays Defence and can quickly catch you. Able to keep the puck in the offensive zone and plays a tough defensive game. You will only hit her once...after that..Keep your head up!
Ben(The Wall): Plays (owns) Goalie and simply loves hockey. If you can get a puck past him you are in a different league of player. Ben is a fortress in nets.
The Coaches:
Serge: Head Coach and do not forget it! (LOL); a great guy who loves hockey and the kids. An amazing coach for a guy who did not play organized league hockey! Passionate about the sport and puts fun first. Works on developing a skilled team with a healthy sports attitude!
Brad: Assistant Coach and team motivator; super guy on the ice and a great asset on the bench. He also works the defence door.
Darren: Trainer and chief hydration monitor. He looks after the well being of the kids and makes sure everyone is ready to play.
Brent: Manager and recent article writer. Helps on the ice during practices and helps get the coaches instructions to the players. He works the Forward Door
Tom: Bench Assistant and motivator. He keeps the kids hydrated and fights with Brent over who gets to open the door (LOL)
Team Support:
Lori (Serge’s wife): Does most of the manager’s job (thanks Lori J I owe you), fund raising, stats, e-mails and team co-ordination…fantastic! Motivates Serge J
Lori (Brent’s wife): Runs the clock for the home games, fills the water bottles and helps with team co-ordination and cheering for the away games…oh yes…motivates Brent J
The Laundry Machines: This one is tricky and I do not want to get into trouble. Mark and Jerry were the ones who put out the jerseys for all the games (one home, one away) and then bagged and tagged the smelly results of hard work and took them home. Erring on the side of safety; I think a huge props goes out to their wives Nancy and Deb who had to open the bag!
The Parents and Fans: Huge support for the kids and the coaches. You guys ROCK!
I cannot write enough; this has been a great season with a great group TREMEDOUSLY AWESOME FREAKING AMAZING TEAM of kids and a fantastic support group of fans and parents!
