COULD THE HONEY MOON BE OVER FOR THE BOOMERS?????
Honeywood hands Oro Thunder Peewees their first loss in the post season 4-2

There is something about a long drive on a snow covered slippery winding road with limited vision and white knuckles to make one really appreciate a great hockey match. Honeywood and the Oro Thunder Peewee finals are shaping up to be just that! For those of you who have never travelled to Honeywood it is quite the adventure.

Today's game got underway at 3:15 pm and the Oro Thunder were excited to try and extend the series lead to 2 games. Honeywood came out with speed and determination to get a win in their home barn. At 4:21 of the first period Honeywood was able to gain the zone and dipsy doodle the defense. The score was 1-0 at the end of the first period with Oro battling to tie the game.

The Oro Coach fired up the players for the Second period and they came out fast and hard. After several chances and some cool plays Daniel fed Quinn and Quinn was able to pop one in...Game tied!!! 7:43 left in the second. Honeywood was not done though and they stormed right back hammering shots at The Wall (Ben). It took many chances but they finally got another one by Ben with 2:38 left in the second. Once again Oro came back and had many chances. David and Justin came close to scoring. The defense of Elora and Shaunce, Nick and Greg kept the puck out of the Thunder end and fed the forwards. Yet again time was to expire with Oro down a goal heading into the Third Period.

Man it was cold in that arena.....with the frost still in the air from the "Go Oro Go" chants, Honeywood caught a home ice lucky bounce (or sliding puck to be more accurate) and the score went to 3-1 at 13:40 of the Third. There was a bit of cloud over the Oro team...just briefly...and certainly not as dark as the dimly lit ice surface, but it was just long enough for the Honeywood team to slide another past Ben and make it 4-1 with 13:09 left to play.

Thunder Boomed!....The kids fought hard for more goals to get the game back! Trent made some great break out passes and Zack was skating hard. Honeywood was getting tired, but the home ice advantage was definitely there. Josh was driving hard to the net and the defense teams were putting the puck deep in the zone. It took many attempts and some great stops at both ends of the rink but Logan was able to get a puck to Daniel who scored a beauty with 2:44 left in the third and sparked the Thunder into even higher gear. For the remainder of the period the puck stayed down in the Honeywood end but nothing was to get by the net minder for Honeywood.

The battle continues Sunday at 6:45 pm at the Oro Arena. This will be Game 3 of the best of 5 and the series is now tied 1-1.  The Thunder will have Home ice advantage and it is expected to be a great game!!
