THAT WAS ONE HONEY OF AN.....OH YA BABY!!!
The Boomers Thunder back for game three and take it 2-1 !

Okay, the rink has an AED (Defibulator) at the entry and the Oro Thunder- Honeywood series is causing fans to seriously consider using it! WOW- this some spectacular hockey. Hard fought battles, tough checks, beautiful goals, superb goaltending and fast end to end action. The NHL had better pay attention because these kids are the real deal!

Game three started a bit early at 6:40 PM as both teams were eager to get on the ice and let the game begin. The Thunder had done some tweaking since the last game in Honeywood and it would be an exciting night for the kids to give it their all. The action started fast and Oro was on their game quick. Honeywood was not keeping up to the fast Oro Team and as a result found themselves in the penalty box, first for hooking and then for interference. On the Power play for the interference call, Zack and Logan were able to get the puck over to Daniel who potted a beauty over the Honeywood Goalie. The crowd errupted in cheers and the Thunder were on the board at 7:11 of the first period.

Oro kept up the pace and repeatedly stripped Honeywood of the puck and action was in the Honeywood end. Another penalty to Honeywood for tripping greatly deflated their offence. The Wall (Ben) was stopping anything thrown his way and Shaunce, Elora, Nick and Logan were all joining rushes and moving the puck effectively out of the zone. The period ended with the Oro Thunder up 1-nil.

The second period kept up the fast pace and Honeywood was once again in the box for elbowing. The power play was unable to get a goal during the man advantage but soon after it Logan fed Daniel who got the puck over to Zack and.....ROOF DADDY!!! Oro is up 2-0 off another beauty of a goal. The fast paced period continued with chances at both ends... Trent did a bum spin o-rama and almost potted one and Justin was left on the door step, just unable to stuff the puck through. Near the end of the second Honeywood caught Oro out of position and they were able to chip a hole in the Wall. At the end of the second the score was 2-1 for the Thunder.

The Third period was all about shut down and smart hockey. The Thunder did spend some time in the box for some high checks, but also drew Honeywood into some bad plays. As Greg battled hard for the puck, he frustrated Honeywood's big guy and off the big guy went to the box while displaying some un-necessary crowd taunting. David and Quinn were flying and both came oh so close to scoring. Posts were being hit with pucks (so close Josh) and Quinn scored using his own body (did not count though). Daniel and Josh were hitting everything that moved even close to the puck and you could hear the Thunder booming on several of the hits! With 1:51 left in the Third, one of the hits went a bit high and Josh was sent to feel shame in the box. Honeywood tried to capitalize on the situation and pulled their net minder sending all the big guns out on the ice.

The play went back and forth with Oro icing the puck and smartly clearing the zone. Logan stood up to the Honeywood player trying to dipsy doodle again! One puck almost made it, but Ben put another brick in the wall and said NO! Honeywood was becoming frustrated and the crowd was almost ready to grab the AED unit....Bang... 13.5 seconds left and Honeywood takes a very bad boarding penalty...the Oro Coach quickly called a Time Out to rest his skaters and discuss the play to move the puck out of the zone. Off the face off, Oro chipped the puck out and down the ice. Time ran out as the puck was brought back across the line and the crowd went beserk! Oro Thunder wins 2-1 Yeee Hooo!

The Oro Thunder Peewee 1 now leads the play-off series 2-1 with a total of 4 points and will play Honeywood Monday night in Honeywood (8:00 pm)

The series win is based on the first team to 6 points. A win tomorrow night and the Oro Thunder Peewee 1 will move on to the "A" division Championships!!

Super exciting times ! Great Game Peewee 1 ! Go Oro Go !
