Wednesday night brought us a home match with the always-tough
Penetang Flames, and they didn’t disappoint with providing a great test for us!
The boys carried their offensive momentum from our first league game into this one and got things off to a roaring start a minute and a half into the game on a great passing play started by Samuel and Noal, and finished off by Devin.
Not to be outdone, the second line wanted to get things rolling as well as they came out onto the next shift as Jack and Taylor quickly moved the puck up the ice, passing to Caden who found the back of the net.
Our stingy net-minder continued his fine work shutting the door on Penetang and earning his first league shut-out!
With great goal-tending comes great defensive play, and our four stand-outs were at the top of their game all night, defending well and moving pucks quickly out of our end to our attacking forwards. Nicky was his normal fearless self, taking on much bigger players with reckless abandonment and always coming out with the puck. Our twin towers, Owen and Wesley, were shutting down forwards and breaking up numerous Penetang rushes much to the delight of our home crowd.
And last, but not least, Logan celebrated his 8th birthday with an outstanding game and rocked out a couple of sweet birthday goals top shelf!
It was a great home effort and a good way to head off to our first tournament of the season in Parry Sound.
