Sonic Boom of Thunder!
This weekend marked the first meeting of the two Oro Thunder teams and the game didn't disappoint.

This weekend saw our team reach the mid point of regular season games.  It just so happened the 10th game of season was also against the other Oro Thunder team.
The weekend started with a game against the Elmvale Coyotes.  The team was looking to redeem itself after some performances below their typical standard on Saturday nights.  They looked well on their way with the game evenly matched through 2 periods with the teams trading goals, all tied at 2.  Playing his best game of the season, Keith G potted both goals for the home team.  Pouncing on a rebound Keith started the scoring.  He added a second goal finish off a text book 2 on 1 with Troy V.  Driving the net with his stick on the ice Keith converted on a beautiful goal.  Unfortunately the team ran out of steam in the 3rd period and Elmvale was able to capitalize on a few defensive miscues to put the game out of reach 5-2.
Sunday was a key date on schedule as we "visited" our Oro counterparts at East Bayfield.  Always a grudge match when 2 Oro teams face off this game was a classic from the start.  Brodie P opened the scoring in the first period with his first of the season only to have the game tied before the end of the period.  Early in the second we found ourselves down 2-1 and fighting to keep the deficit to 1 until Alfie B with a beautiful end to end rush tied the game up and gave us the momentum back.  Brodie P who always seems to be well positioned in front of the net, scored his second of the game, however the lead was short lived and teams were deadlocked again.  With another momentum change we quickly found ourselves down by 1 goal late in the period.  Now it was Will G's turn and put his offensive skills on display.  With a fantastic individual effort, deking the goalie and scoring, the game was tied yet again.  As time was running down in the game it appeared the teams were heading towards a well deserved tie game.  However, a late face off in the offensive zone provided the opportunity for Brett G to continue his strong play with a clean win on the draw.  He played the puck over to Will G who one timed the puck into the net with less than 30 seconds to play.
Fortunately we were able to hang on for the win to finish the first half of the season at 5-4-1.  The team is really coming together and playing well.  Lead by the strong defensive play of the captain, Caelan G and tireless effort of Keon S, Brett G, Blake B, Sam F, and Ben B, as well as the sound positional play of Davis K, Jacob H the team is well positioned for good things in the second half.  Add in the excellent goaltending of Graydon B and expectations run high!  With upcoming tournaments there is still lots of hockey to play and the coaching staff is excited to see the continued development of the team.
