Season Finishes on Winning Note!
The boys put together a solid effort to finish off the regular season with a win over Penetang.
The team wanted to finish the season on a winning note and they followed through with a decisive victory over the visiting Penetang Flames. It appeared the team came ready to play with a great scoring change off the opening faceoff but we couldn't beat the Flames goalie. Penetang then marched down the ice to take an early 1-0 and put the pressure on the home team. Will G, who has been an offensive leader all year opened the scoring on a nifty backhand deke and set the tone for the team. Blake B with a determined second effort and Brett G who potted his on rebound staked the team to a 3-1 lead and they never looked back.
Jordan H proved that all you need to do is get the puck on net when he fired a low wrister from the blueline to score his first goal of the year. He has been rock solid on the backend all year and it was nice to see him get rewarded with a goal. Will G added his second goal of the game and Troy V put the game out of reach with a beauty of his own when he went bar down from in tight.
Although they didn't make the scoresheet Alfie B, Keon S, Brodie P and Keith G had excellent games as they played with passion and an unmatched work ethic!
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the players, parents and coaches for a great regular season. The effort, help and dedication to the team is appreciated and a major contributing factor to our successful season. I look forward to a great playoff season and fun in our remaining tournaments this year.
