Playoff Champs!
Continuing from where they left off in the tournament, the team won 2 closely contested games to win the B Pool Championship.
Oro Thunder LL1 swept Elmvale in the best of 3 Championship final. It was a total team effort with each and every player contributing to the win in 2 close and exciting games.
Game 1 was a back and forth affair with each team on top of their game. Elmvale took the early lead and the game was back and forth right to end of regulation with the teams tied at 3. Overtime was needed to settle to game and just under 4 minutes in to the 4th period Oro prevailed.
Game 2 was played in Elmvale and the boys knew it would be the toughest game to win of the season. Once again Elmvale applied the pressure early but were unable to score. At the other end the Elmvale goalie (and post) did everything to keep the puck out of the net. The game remained scoreless until early on the 3rd when Elmvale was able to capitalize on an opportunity to take the lead. With the way the game was going that might have been enough, however, the team would not relent and were finally able to break through an tie the game mid way through the period. It was beginning to look like another overtime game until late in the 3rd when Oro was able to stuff one past the goalie for a 2-1 lead. It was all hands on deck as the boys held on to protect the lead as the clock counted down!
